Housesitter foils attempted robbery

A housesitter surprised two would-be robbers at a Godfrey Drive home in Copper Cliff Jan. 29, said Greater Sudbury Police Service. The 58-year-old woman was woken up by the doorbell ringing, said police.

A housesitter surprised two would-be robbers at a Godfrey Drive home in Copper Cliff Jan. 29, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The 58-year-old woman was woken up by the doorbell ringing, said police. By the time she got up and began to walk towards the door, two men were inside the the house. When they saw the house sitter, they fled out the doorway.

The housesitter then called police. The area was checked; however, the suspects have not been located.

They are described as both being in dark clothing. One suspect was about 5-foot-7 and the other was approximately 5-foot-3.

Residents are reminded to keep their doors and windows locked and call the police immediately upon finding an intruder inside their home.
