Employee catches thief suspect, blocks in vehicle

A 46-year-old man is facing multiple charges after he tried to steal items from a local business Feb. 21. At around 1:45 p.m., an employee at a business on Foundry Road observed a suspicious vehicle travelling about the property.

A 46-year-old man is facing multiple charges after he tried to steal items from a local business Feb. 21.

At around 1:45 p.m., an employee at a business on Foundry Road observed a suspicious vehicle travelling about the property.

The man confronted the man driving the vehicle, and saw items in the vehicle belonging to the business. The suspect pleaded with the employee not to call police, and started replacing the stolen items.

The employee contacted police, blocked the driveway with a vehicle, and secured the gate to the compound.

The suspect began driving his vehicle towards the gate in an intimidating manner in an attempt to escape, and the drove around the compound, looking for another way out. He eventually got his vehicle stuck in some deep snow, and fled on foot.

With the assistance of the K-9 unit, the suspect was tracked and eventually located at a residence, where he was arrested.

The suspect has been charged with attempted theft, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, break and enter, driving while suspended and breach of probation. He has been held pending a bail hearing.
