A woman used a knife to threaten employees at Gus's Restaurant on Elm Street when she was confronted for stealing a donation jar off the counter, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The woman entered the restaurant around 4 p.m. Feb. 25. The jar was tied to the counter with ribbon, but she used a pair of scissors to cut the ribbons.

When she was stopped by staff, she threatened them with a knife.

She fled the area on foot, but was arrested by police a short time later. She was found to be in possession of controlled substances and, once identified, found to have been previously released on a recognizance of bail.

She was scheduled for bail hearing today.
