Superloads on Hwy. 17 to interrupt traffic: OPP

The Ontario Provincial Police is warning area motorists to be aware of potential traffic delays during their travels along the Highway 17 corridor on Saturday, Feb. 28 from Coniston to Copper Cliff between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon.

The Ontario Provincial Police is warning area motorists to be aware of potential traffic delays during their travels along the Highway 17 corridor on Saturday, Feb. 28 from Coniston to Copper Cliff between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon.

Police will be escorting superloads from Lopes Limited in Coniston to the Vale Smelter in Copper Cliff.

The escorts may periodically delay or interrupt the normal flow of traffic in the area.

"The OPP’s objective is to maintain the safe flow of traffic and, when delays occur, restore traffic flow in the safest manner possible," said a news release.

"Motorists should check in advance for road advisory information and monitor local media for the latest updates. The OPP appreciates everyone’s cooperation and patience during these escorts."
