An all-night search has turned up no sign of a missing aircraft, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

Search efforts continue today for a Piper airplane and its three occupants that went missing around 4 p.m. March 17.

The OPP was advised the aircraft had experienced engine problems 20 kilometres south of Sudbury and 18 kilometres west of Key River.

The aircraft had to make an emergency landing, and radio contact was lost.

Joint Rescue Coordinator Centre sent an aircraft and helicopter from Trenton to locate and assist. Officers from West Parry Sound OPP detachment are currently attempting to locate the aircraft.

“JRCC searched all night, but still haven't found anything,” said OPP Const. Miles Loach. “They are searching from Pickle Lake to Kilarney right now.”

Transport Canada Safety Board has been notified and will be assisting in the investigation.

Around 4 a.m. March 18, JRCC dropped flares from their own aircraft to aid in the search.
