The Ontario Provincial Police said it won't be releasing the identities of the victims of the March 17 plane crash until after a post mortem has been completed.

Three bodies were found at the crash site, located about 25 kilometres west of the Henvey Inlet First Nation.

At about 4 p.m. on March 17, the plane radioed that it was in distress. Radio contact was lost after that, said the OPP.

"On March 18, 2015 at approximately 8:44 a.m., the Joint Rescue Coordinator Centre located the plane, which was in a desolate rugged terrain near the mouth of the French and Pickerel Rivers within the French River Provincial Park area," said a news release from the OPP.

"A member of the Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Team was airlifted to the crash site by the Canadian Coast Guard helicopter. Confirmation was then ascertained that it was the plane which had been reported in distress shortly before 4 p.m. on March 17."

The OPP has set up a temporary command post at Henvey Inlet First Nation.

"The location is being utilized to facilitate the flying in of OPP members, Transport Safety Board and the Regional Coroner for investigative processes."
