Two children, 1 senior killed in Hwy. 69 crash

A collision on Highway 69 on March 18 killed a three-month-old girl, a 13-year-old girl and a 71-year-old man, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

A collision on Highway 69 on March 18 killed a three-month-old girl, a 13-year-old girl and a 71-year-old man, said the Ontario Provincial Police.

The OPP has identified the victims as Lake Helen First Nation resident William Tuck, 71, who was the driver, three-month-old Myah Kowtiash and 13-year-old Ember Wynne, both from Red Rock Township.

At about 8:19 p.m., a van driven by Tuck exited Highway 529 in Magnetawan First Nation onto Highway 69 into the path of a tractor trailer, said police.

Two passengers from the van were transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer suffered minor injuries.

The investigation is continuing.

The West Parry Sound OPP, the Sudbury OPP and the OPP technical traffic collision investigators, Britt Fire Department, Henvey Inlet First Nation Fire Department, Parry Sound EMS, Sudbury EMS and Ornge Air Ambulance attended the scene.
