Greater Sudbury Police Service received a call March 27 at about 3:30 a.m. about the theft of a construction trailer from the O'Neil Drive area in Garson.

The caller had been awakened by noises from outside, said a news release. He noted fresh tire tracks in the snow, and followed them. He gave officers a possible direction of travel.

Officers came upon a pickup truck pulling such a trailer travelling southbound on Notre Dame. A traffic stop was initiated by several marked police cruisers on Notre Dame Street in the area of King Street. It didn't take long for police to confirm this was, in fact, the stolen trailer.

The two men were arrested and are charged with theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and breach of recognizance. Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
