Greater Sudbury Police say they received several complaints from the public regarding the video, which was apparently shot in New Sudbury. It shows the motorist failing to stop at a stop sign, accelerating aggressively and holding a cellphone while pursuing the animal.

“As a result of our investigation, the motorist has been identified and charged with Careless Driving, which includes all the poor driving behavior caught on video (including holding a hand held communication device),” the police say in a release.

While these types of wildlife sightings are exciting and at times newsworthy, police also say they would like to remind the public to exercise caution while driving and to obey the rules of the road at all times.

What's more, chasing animals with a vehicle is not only dangerous to other drivers and pedestrians, it is potentially dangerous for the animal as well, beyond the stress such actions impose upon a defenseless creature.
