The Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to an assault of an animal control officer in the Dowling area.

The animal control officer was responding to an incident involving wandering dogs. One loose dog was caught and placed in the animal control vehicle. Two owners then approached the officer and assaulted her.

The man and woman removed the dog from the vehicle unlawfully, without providing the required information.

As a result, the GSPS charged the two individuals with assault and theft under $5,000.

The Rainbow District Animal Control and Shelter Services have animal control officers that respond to complaints regarding loose dogs and cats. There is a process in place should your pet be apprehended.
