Man found sleeping next to snowmobile in March impaired incident

Greater Sudbury Police Service have released the details of impaired driving incidents that occurred between Feb. 20 and March 7. On Feb. 20, a 46-year-old man was charged with having over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood.

Greater Sudbury Police Service have released the details of impaired driving incidents that occurred between Feb. 20 and March 7.

On Feb. 20, a 46-year-old man was charged with having over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood. He had been stopped by police for speeding and further investigation revealed he had consumed alcohol. Breath tests confirmed he had over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood.

On Feb. 26, a 48-year-old man was charged with impaired driving by drugs. Concerned citizens contacted police to report an alleged impaired driver. Police located the vehicle and stopped it to investigate further. He was found to be under the influence of drugs and was arrested.

On Feb. 28, a 34-year-old man was charged with having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood. He was located by police driving his motor vehicle on LaSalle Blvd. Investigation revealed he had consumed alcohol and provided a sample of his breath into an approved screening device. Breath tests at the police station confirmed he had more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood.

On March 1, a 50-year-old woman was charged with impaired driving and having over 80 milligrams of alcohol in her blood. Police had observed the vehicle swerving from left to right several times and initiated a traffic stop. She was found to be exhibiting signs of alcohol consumption. Roadside breath tests resulted in a fail. Breath tests at the police station confirmed she had more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in her blood.

On March 2, a 33-year-old man was charged with having over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood. Investigation revealed he was involved in a collision on Hazel Street. He failed a roadside breath test and was arrested. Breath tests revealed he had over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood. He also is charged with offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

On March 3, a 38-year-old man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, having over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood and possession of a controlled substance. Police were contacted when a concerned citizen reported that a snowmobile was flipped over on its side on Hwy. 537 in Wahnapitae and a male beside it. He flipped the snowmobile back on its tracks and drove away. As police were attending the area another concerned citizen stopped police to report the same driver of the snowmobile was sleeping in the snow next to the machine. Police found that this was the same snowmobile reported earlier by the previous citizen. The officers found the suspect be impaired by alcohol and he was arrested. Breath tests at the police station revealed he had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

On March 5, a 29-year-old man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and refusal to provide breath sample and resist arrest. Police were contacted to investigate a motor vehicle collision on Lasalle Blvd. Witnesses provided officers the grounds to arrest him for impaired driving when he began to resist arrest. He was brought to police headquarters where he refused to provide a breath sample into the Intoxilyzer.

On March 7, a 44-year-old woman was charged with having over 80 milligrams of alcohol and impaired driving. Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Wembley Drive. The suspect had rear-ended another vehicle. Officers on scene detected the odour of alcohol coming from her breath. Breath tests into an approved screening device resulted in a fail. The woman further provided breath samples into the Intoxilyzer where she had over 80 milligrams of alcohol in her blood.

All drivers involved with alcohol related offences of having over 80 milligrams or refusal have had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.
