Man facing 16 charges after Lloyd Street barricading

“We tried to interact with the suspect, it didn't go well, and he ultimately barricaded himself within in the apartment. We backed off and contained the apartment, as well as the immediate area in the interest of public safety.

“We tried to interact with the suspect, it didn't go well, and he ultimately barricaded himself within in the apartment. We backed off and contained the apartment, as well as the immediate area in the interest of public safety.”

The suspect was alone inside the apartment throughout the standoff.

Around 6:30 p.m., the suspect exited the window of his apartment onto the ladder of the fire truck, said Maki. At that point, officers went into the apartment to secure it.

It took about another 20 minutes for police to talk the man down from there, said Maki.

“It was the peaceful resolution we were seeking to this incident,” he said. “No one got hurt, which was the ultimate goal.”

The suspect, who has not been named, faces numerous charges from both the original family disturbance investigation and after he barricaded himself in the apartment.

From the family disturbance investigation, he is charged with one count of break and enter, two counts of assault and one count of mischief.

From barricading himself inside an apartment, he is charged with four counts of assault with a weapon, one count of assaulting a peace officer, two counts of weapons dangerous, two counts of mischief, one count of common nuisance and two counts of breaching probation.

He was scheduled for bail court this morning.
