Police arrest bank robbery suspect

Sudbury Police arrested a 44-year-old man Saturday morning for a robbery at the Caisse Populaire in Azilda Friday afternoon. The man was the only suspect for the robbery.

Sudbury Police arrested a 44-year-old man Saturday morning for a robbery at the Caisse Populaire in Azilda Friday afternoon.

The man was the only suspect for the robbery.

Police executed a search warrant on this residence, where they found evidence of the robbery and a sawed off shotgun.

They also seized the vehicle the man allegedly used to escape from the bank.

The accused will be held for a bail hearing after being arrested and has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous Purpose, robbery with violence and wearing a disguise.

Police are investigating a robbery at the Caisse Populaire in Azilda shortly before 2 p.m. this afternoon, according to a press release from Greater Sudbury Police.

Police did not specify which bank was robbed.

A lone man entered the bank, demanding money. He fled on foot. The public is asked to avoid the area. Greater Sudbury Police say they'll provide more information later.
