Expect traffic delays during Pan Am Games Torch Relay

On Tuesday, Greater Sudbury Police will be helping with in the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay when it arrives in the city. Local torchbearers will begin the relay at the corner of Ethelbert and Elm streets at around 6:15 p.m.

Runners participating in the Pan Am Games Torch Relay on Tuesday will begin the relay at the corner of Ethelbert and Elm streets at around 6:15 p.m. The relay will temporarily close both eastbound lanes on Elm Street, reopening behind the procession as the torchbearers reach Paris Street at around 6:45 p.m.
On Tuesday, Greater Sudbury Police will be helping with in the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay when it arrives in the city.

Local torchbearers will begin the relay at the corner of Ethelbert and Elm streets at around 6:15 p.m. The relay will temporarily close both eastbound lanes on Elm Street, reopening behind the procession as the torchbearers reach Paris Street at around 6:45 p.m.

Southbound lanes on Paris Street will temporarily be closed for the relay as the route continues over the Bridge of Nations to the corner of Paris and York streets, where the Pan Am flame will be carried to the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre.

Southbound traffic lanes on Paris will reopen behind the torchbearers as the procession moves forward.

“The public is encouraged to attend the lighting of the Pan Am Games cauldron at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre in Bell Park, starting at 5:30 p.m.,” the release said. “Motorists are advised to take alternate routes to avoid traffic delays eastbound on Elm Street and southbound on Paris Street between 6:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday.”

On Wednesday at 8:35 a.m., the Pan Am Games Torch will depart Churchill Public School on fielding Street in New Sudbury and will be carried by runners along Auger Avenue, Gemmell Street and Westmount Avenue, with minimal traffic disruption.
