Train derailment west of the city

A Huron Central train derailed west of Sudbury Saturday afternoon at Municipal Road 4 and Bay Street. Sudbury Fire Services Platoon Chief George Lalonde said the derailment occurred around 12:15 p.m.

A Huron Central train derailed west of Sudbury Saturday afternoon at Municipal Road 4 and Bay Street.

Sudbury Fire Services Platoon Chief George Lalonde said the derailment occurred around 12:15 p.m.

There were no injuries, and no hazardous materials on board the train cars, he said.

“We figure as many as 10 cars have left the track, but that's an estimate,” Lalonde said.

The derailment happened around 30 kilometres west of Sudbury.
