OPP locate body of missing boater from West Virginia

The body of a missing boater was recovered June 27 from Michael's Bay, on the south shore of Manitoulin Island, by the OPP Underwater Search and Rescue Team. The OPP were notified at 11 a.m.

The body of a missing boater was recovered June 27 from Michael's Bay, on the south shore of Manitoulin Island, by the OPP Underwater Search and Rescue Team.

The OPP were notified at 11 a.m. June 26 that 74-year-old George Robert Brammer of Huntington, West Virginia had gone missing.

An unattended small vessel belonging to Brammer was located anchored off shore.

The search for Brammer included the Manitoulin OPP, the OPP Marine Unit, Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre, the OPP helicopter and the OPP Underwater Search and Rescue Team.

Brammer's body was located at 3 p.m. June 27. He was not wearing a lifejacket.

A post-mortem examination was due to be conducted in Sudbury June 29.
