Suspended driver charged for impaired, leaving crash scene

A 60-year-old man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly got into a motor vehicle crash last month while impaired and then left the scene. The collision took place June 18 at the intersection of Lorne and Regent streets.

A 60-year-old man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly got into a motor vehicle crash last month while impaired and then left the scene.

The collision took place June 18 at the intersection of Lorne and Regent streets. The suspect left the scene before police arrived.

Officers located the suspect at his home, and found him to be under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Further investigation revealed that he was also a suspended driver and should not be driving a motor vehicle.

The suspect was charged with with impaired driving of a motor vehicle, fail to remain at scene of collision, four counts of drive while under suspension and operate a motor vehicle without insurance.

This was just one of several impaired driving-related charges laid by Greater Sudbury Police during the month of June. Here's a few more incidents detailed by police in a July 7 press release:

On June 1, a 27-year-old man was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, possession of a controlled substance and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Police were contacted by a concerned citizen, as they suspected the driver to be possibly impaired.

The vehicle was located by police on Bancroft Drive. Police demanded the suspect perform standard field sobriety tests. The investigating officer arrested the suspect and found him to be in possession of a controlled substance. He was brought to police headquarters for processing.

On June 3, a 23-year-old man was charged with having more than 80mgs of alcohol in his blood. He was stopped by police after he was observed weaving from lane to lane while driving.

Roadside breath tests confirmed the presence of alcohol, and the suspect was arrested and brought to police headquarters. Breath test readings confirmed he had more than 80mgs of alcohol in his blood.

On June 6, a 27-year-old man was charged with having over 80mgs of alcohol in his blood. Charges were laid after police stopped his vehicle for speeding.

The officer detected alcohol on the driver's breath, and administered a roadside breath test. The suspect was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Breath tests confirmed he had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

On June 12, a 26-year-old man was charged with having more than 80mgs of alcohol in his blood.

Officers were conducting RIDE enforcement in Chelmsford. The officer made a demand for a breath sample. The suspect was arrested after he failed the test. Breath tests confirmed he had more than 80mgs of alcohol in his blood.

On June 13, a 29-year-old man was charged with having more than 80mgs of alcohol in his blood. Officers were conducting RIDE enforcement on Errington Street and Main Street in Chelmsford.

The officer detected alcohol and made a roadside breath demand. The suspect failed the test and was arrested and brought to police headquarters. Breath tests confirmed he had more than 80mgs of alcohol in his blood.
