Highway 69 re-opened after fatal crash

The OPP West Parry Sound Detachment have re-opened Highway 69, south of Harris Road.

A northbound Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) collided with a southbound truck and a southbound motorhome. 

 

The driver of the northbound vehicle succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Two vehicle occupants were transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with non-life threatening injuries.

 

The Collision has closed Highway 69 and a detour has been set up for passenger vehicles only. Signs have been set up by the Ministry of Transportation to take Highway 529 around the accident scene.

 

 

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and a Technical Traffic Collision Investigator.

The highway is closed this afternoon after the collision south of Harris Lake Road, in between the communities of Britt and Pointe Au Baril.

Other local media say there's a detour for light traffic using Highway 529. There's no estimation on how long the road will be closed.

The West Parry Sound OPP could not immediately be reached by NorthernLife.ca for comment.

Highway 69 is closed this afternoon after a three-vehicle collision south of Harris Lake Road, in between the communities of Britt and Pointe Au Baril.

A press release issued by the West Parry Sound OPP at 12:13 p.m. did not have any information about injuries, if any. There is no detour, and no estimation on how long the road will be closed.
