Greater Sudbury Police have arrested and charged a 35-year-old Sudbury man with attempted murder.

On July 11, emergency medical services responded to reports of an injured 58-year-old man on Howey Drive. He was taken to Health Sciences North, where he was treated for serious injuries.

The victim remains in hospital in serious, but stable condition.

Police said the man was assaulted twice with a weapon – the first time at around 3 a.m. Friday, and again five hours later.

The victim was knocked unconscious both times, and had items stolen during both attacks.

Police located the accused Sunday, July 12.

He remains in custody, and police say they have no concern for public safety in the matter as the victim and accused were known to each other.
