Greater Sudbury Police are asking the public for more information to find the driver of an ATV who caused a collision in Naughton July 16 that left a motorcyclist with extensive injuries.

At around 9:45 p.m., the motorcycle was travelling eastbound on Municipal Road 55, approaching St. Louis Street, when it encountered an ATV, which was also eastbound. The ATV was being operated at a high rate of speed, in an erratic manner and without any lighting.

The ATV made an erratic movement, which cut off the motorcycle, causing the vehicles to come in contact. The motorcycle spilled, and the operator was ejected.

The ATV driver made eye contact with the motorcyclist as the collision occurred, then fled the scene at a high rate of speed towards Lively, without stopping to render aid.

The motorcyclist was left injured, lying on the roadway. Citizens stopped and helped him until emergency services arrived. The victim received extensive injuries, for which he was hospitalized.

The operator is described as a young man, with a thin build, wearing a hoodie and dirt bike style helmet. He was operating a dark-coloured, or possibly red ATV with a box/2 up seat. There would be damage behind the driver's left leg area, towards the back of the vehicle.

The ATV was last seen in the area of Municipal Road 55 and Black Lake Road.

Greater Sudbury Police are following up on information received from witnesses, but are asking for any further information people may have about the collision and the ATV driver's identity.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 675-9171 or Crime Stoppers at 222-TIPS, online at www.sudburycrimestoppers.com or by texting TIPSUD and the information to CRIMES (274637).
