Men bent on settling score engage in crime spree

Two men bent on settling a score with an acquaintance engaged in a crime spree that included breaking a vehicle's windows and trying to break into several apartments on Bessie Street. At around 8:50 p.m.

Two men bent on settling a score with an acquaintance engaged in a crime spree that included breaking a vehicle's windows and trying to break into several apartments on Bessie Street.

At around 8:50 p.m. July 26, the suspects broke windows on an unattended pick-up truck on Bessie Street belonging to their acquaintance. One of the suspects was injured while breaking the glass.

The suspects then kicked the front door of a nearby apartment and forced their way into the residence, seeking out their acquaintance. Once inside, they realized they had entered the wrong apartment.

They continued their rampage, causing additional damage to the building and kicking on other apartment doors. A resident of the building not associated with the suspects was assaulted and received minor injuries.

A short time later, the acquaintance being sought out by the suspects was observed by witnesses being chased down the street. Greater Sudbury Police arrested the suspects.

A 36-year-old man has been charged with assault, mischief, unlawfully in a dwelling and assault police. A 26-year-old man has been charged with assault, mischief, unlawfully in a dwelling and uttering threats to cause death.

The suspects have been held in custody pending a July 27 bail hearing. The incident remains under investigation.
