Sudbury police arrested a 20-year-old man July 29 for dangerous operation of his dirt bike, fleeing a police officer, and operating a vehicle without insurance.
The man was driving a red 1990 Honda CRF 250 dirt bike along Main Street in Lively, where he was headed north.
He passed a police cruiser that was headed south, and proceeded to flee from the officer, where he accelerated rapidly, passed a vehicle by going on the shoulder, and later cut off two more vehicles on Niemi Road.
While the driver escaped, police were able to find out his identity, and arrested him 40 minutes later.
Sudbury police remind members of the public that off-road vehicles must have insurance to operate them off your own personal property. Dirt bikes are not to be operated on a highway in the province of Ontario unless the driver has proper lighting, registration, and insurance.
