Police ask for help in solving theft

The Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and members of the North Bay Crime Unit are investigating a theft from a dark coloured Hyundai Santa Fe that had been parked at the marina parking lot by Explorer’s point in Mattawa.

The Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and members of the North Bay Crime Unit are investigating a theft from a dark coloured Hyundai Santa Fe that had been parked at the marina parking lot by Explorer’s point in Mattawa.

The theft occurred on July 26 between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

A white cardboard box with the Microsan hand sanitizer logo on the side was stolen from the vehicle, a news release said. The box contained an unknown amount of cash with varying denominations.

Police are aware that Unmanned Aerial Vehicles - also known as drones - may have been operated in the area around the time of the theft.

“OPP would like to speak to anyone who may have photographs or video footage of the marina parking lot from between approximately 10:30 p.m. and 12 a.m. as you may have information that could assist with our investigation,” the release said.
