Police arrest Mountain Street stabbing suspect

Greater Sudbury Police have arrested a man who was allegedly involved in the stabbing on Mountain Street on Aug. 4.

At around 3:30 p.m., Greater Sudbury Police responded to a weapons complaint in the Mountain Street area.

An investigation revealed the victim, a 26-year-old man, was stabbed and taken to Health Sciences North with life-threatening injuries. The victim is currently in stable condition.

Shortly after the altercation, police arrested the suspect, a 28-year-old man. He's facing charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, breach of prohibition order and breach of probation.

The incident was not a random act, and the men involved in the incident are known to each other, say police. The safety of the public is not at risk.

 Update: 5:40 p.m. 

 

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 Greater SudburyPolice were called to Mountain Street in Sudbury with regards to a weapons complaint.

An adult male was assaulted with a weapon and transported to Health Sciences North with Serious Injuries. Police located the suspect in the area and took the male adult into custody.

Police are still on scene and are at the preliminary stages of the investigation.

Greater Sudbury Police have set up a blockade near 190 Mountain St. for an investigation.  

Greater Sudbury Police responded to an altercation between two individuals at around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 in the Flour Mill area.   

 

Police were on scene with K-9 units for an investigation, according to Staff Sgt. Todd Marassato.
