On Aug. 20, shortly after 2 p.m., Greater Sudbury Police received reports from city contractors that they had located what was believed to be human remains in a sewer on Lillian St, Valley East. They could observe this on their video inspection equipment.

Police attended with forensic officers and were unable to confirm through video what they were seeing was in fact human remains or not.

Shortly after 7 p.m. a visual inspection was made in the sewer and it was confirmed to be debris and refuse that had come to rest in a manner consistent with human skeletal remains.
