Greater Sudbury Police euthanized another injured bear Aug. 30.

At around 9 p.m., police received a report of an injured bear limping in the McAllister Avenue area of New Sudbury.

Police located the bear in behind a home, suffering from injuries and unable to move. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry was contacted and made aware of the incident.

The bear had to be euthanized because of the extent of its injuries.

People living in the area told police they heard a gunshot in the area before seeing the injured bear.

In a similar incident earlier this summer, a deceased bear was found in the driveway of a home on Rutherglen Crescent in New Sudbury. Police suspect the bear was “inhumanely killed” in the late evening hours of July 29.

On Friday, police also euthanized an injured bear that was dragging its legs in the Danforth Avenue area of New Sudbury. In this case, officers suspect it was hit by a car.
