Pair of licence suspensions handed out at R.I.D.E. Stop

The Greater Sudbury Police Service stopped 112 drivers during a R.I.D.E. program conducted on Sept. 26 on Barrydowne Rd at Maley Dr, Falconbridge Hwy, Lasalle Blvd and Madison at Lansing Ave.

During the check stops police handed out a pair of three-day licence suspensions and laid 14 charges under the Highway Traffic Act for infractions such as not wearing a seatbelt.

One field sobriety test was conducted during the stops, but no drivers were charged under the criminal code for driving while intoxicate.

The GSPS and Action Sudbury are supporters or Operation Lookout, a Canada-wide, year-round awareness program aimed at reducing impaired driving. Police are encouraging members of the public to call 911 if the suspect an impaired driver.
