Police have been at the scene of a “serious incident” on Notre Dame Street in Azilda since 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Greater Sudbury Police Services said in a press release.
Police said they have a suspect in custody and the Criminal Investigations Division is continuing its investigation.
“Police want to assure the public that this is an isolated incident and there is no concern for public safety,” the press release said.
But police have not been able to provide details as to the nature of the incident.
“We don't want to be providing information that, as we continue with the investigation, turns out to be something different,” Greater Sudbury Police Staff Sgt. Valerie Tiplady told NorthernLife.ca.
Tiplady said police were still on the scene of the incident as of 1:15 p.m. Saturday.
