Police arrest five for downtown attack Nov. 8

Sudbury Police have arrested and charged five people for an assault in a downtown park on Nov. 8. That day a 22-year-old man was attacked and pepper sprayed in Hnatyshyn Park, where his attackers demanded money.

That day a 22-year-old man was attacked and pepper sprayed in Hnatyshyn Park, where his attackers demanded money.

The victim was able to escape, before he was caught and pepper sprayed a second time by one of the assailants. He eventually fled his attackers and contacted police.

Three adult males, one male youth and one female youth face a total of 22 charges for offences relating to the robbery. The charges include robbery with a weapon, administering a noxious substance, possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with various court orders.

The victim received medical treatment for minor injury and was released.
