Police clock driver going 120 km/h on MR 80

Greater Sudbury Police continue to catch drivers travelling much faster than the posted limit on Municipal Road 80. Case in point: At around 5 p.m. on Sunday, an officer clocked a small sports car travelling at 121 km/h in the posted 60 km/h zone.

Greater Sudbury Police continue to catch drivers travelling much faster than the posted limit on Municipal Road 80.

Case in point: At around 5 p.m. on Sunday, an officer clocked a small sports car travelling at 121 km/h in the posted 60 km/h zone. Naturally, the driver soon spotted flashing lights in his rear-view.

The 21-year-old male driver was charged with stunt driving for exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/hr.

He was issued a summons to attend Traffic Court, had his licence suspended for seven days and lost the use of his vehicle for seven days.

FYI, if you are convicted of stunt driving, you’ll pay a fine of between $2,000 and $10,000, and accumulate six demerit points. Your driver’s licence could be suspended for up to two years on a first conviction and you could spend six months in jail. If you get a second stunt driving conviction within 10 years, you could have your licence suspended for up to a decade.
