Update: Police re-opened the ramp at 11:30 a.m. today.
Greater Sudbury Police have temporarily closed the on and off ramp at the Lasalle Extension to Municipal Road 35.
There's extremely icy road conditions and multiple motor vehicle collisions, said police in a press release issued at 9 a.m. The area is expected to be closed until the road can be sanded and salted.
“I can tell you that vehicles have been sliding off the road,” said Staff Sgt. Peter Orsino.
“Most recently while a police cruiser was there to close the roadway, another vehicle slid into the rear end of the cruiser.”
Orsino said there were no injuries in the crashes, only property damage.
