She took the ditch, police took her licence

A woman from Nairn Centre was given a roadside driver's licence suspension after Espanola OPP officers found her car in a ditch on Highway 17. On Feb. 3 at approximately 8:30 p.m.

A woman from Nairn Centre was given a roadside driver's licence suspension after Espanola OPP officers found her car in a ditch on Highway 17.

On Feb. 3 at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Espanola OPP responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 17, in the Township of Baldwin.

When officers arrived at the scene, it was determined that the female driver had consumed alcohol.

A roadside breath test was administered. The driver registered a BAC in the “Warn Range."

As a result of the investigation a 46-year-old woman from Nairn Centre was issued an immediate roadside driver’s licence suspension for three days.

The vehicle the accused was operating was towed to a local towing impound.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving.

Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
