A 50-year-old Sudbury woman fled from police on March 30 after officers were tipped off that she might be driving drunk in the Hazel Street area, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Officers found her driving her vehicle on Lorne Street near Kelly Lake Road. Police followed the vehicle to the intersection of Balsam Street in Copper Cliff, where they attempted to pull over the vehicle.

The driver sped away through a red light. Officers gave chase, travelling only a short distance at a low speed to the overpass just west of Power Street on Highway 17 West.

The woman is charged with impaired driving and flight from police. She will appear in court at a future date to face those and other charges of fail to stop and blowing over .08 mg.
