The Sudbury Wolves are now two games in the hole in the 2009-2010 edition of the Bell Challenge Cup Series against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
The teams met up Nov. 18 in the Sault for a game that saw the Sudbury team get pummeled 7-0.
The game remained scoreless after the first period. However, the Hounds returned to the ice in the second frame ready to do battle, notching the first goal of the game five minutes into the period and capitalizing on a power play again two minutes later. The team put up another two markers - one on another power play - before the end of the period.
The third period was much of the same, with the Wolves frequenting the penalty box while the Hounds capitalized on the weakened defence, adding another two power play markers and a third short-handed goal.
Despite rejecting 26 shots, Sudbury's goalkeeper Andrew Loverock was marked with the loss. The Greyhounds' netminder Robin Lehner turned away 27 of the Wolves' shots, marking his first shut out of the season.
The Wolves return to home ice this weekend for a double-header, taking on the Saginaw Spirit Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m., and the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.
