The Bell Challenge Cup series made its way to the Nickel City on Tuesday night as the Sudbury Wolves hosted their northern rivals, the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in game three. The Wolves were looking to rebound from a tough loss in the Sault last week, when the Greyhounds dished out a 7-0 lashing.

On Tuesday night, the Pack jumped out to an early 1–0 lead in the first period with a goal from Josh McFadden — his first since joining the Wolves at the start of November. He was assisted by Peter Hermenegildo and Kain Allicock.

The Greyhounds tied the game midway through the middle frame, and took the 2–1 lead a few minutes later with a shorthanded goal.

The Wolves evened the contest at just past the one minute mark of the third period on a rebound play by Steve Reese, with assists from Jake Cardwell and John Kurtz. That was the only scoring in the period and the teams headed to overtime.

Once in overtime, the Wolves were given an untimely penalty within the opening minute and the Hounds took full advantage, scoring the game-winner while on the power play.

Sudbury Wolves netminder Andrew Loverock had a solid outing making 22 saves for the overtime loss, while his counterpart Robin Lehner made 27 saves for the win.

The Sudbury Wolves will return to action at home on Friday night when they host the Owen Sound Attack. Game time is 7:35 p.m.
