The 2010 Ontario Summer Games announced that Vale Inco, one of the world’s largest mining companies, has come aboard as a Championship Partner of the games taking place Aug. 10-13 in Greater Sudbury.

“We are thrilled to be part of an event that will showcase our great city to the thousands of competitors, their families and visitors that these Games will attract,” Steve Ball, manager of corporate affairs for Vale Inco, said in a press release.

“With over 3,500 participants, in addition to their families and friends, this event will be one of the largest Sudbury has ever hosted,” Dan Lee, Games chair, said in the release. “The support demonstrated by our sponsors is incremental to the success of the Games and we are very grateful.

“The Ontario Summer Games provide an important opportunity for athletes to gain competition experience and to hone their abilities,” Margarett Best, Minister of Health Promotion, said in the release. “Ontario’s athletes are role models for all of us and we are proud to support them.”

Nearly 40 venues throughout the community have been identified to host the 32 sports the athletes will be competing in. For further information, visit www.2010ontariosummergames.ca.

Glad to hear that they are using our Payroll money wisely...

    Hey Normduster
I think they may be using y"our Payroll money" more wisely now than when they were giving it to you with your attitude.

Does USW offer counseling? Check into it chum. You need a better understanding of your place in the scheme of things.

  • "Glad to hear that they are using our Payroll money wisely...."

Perfect example of the arrogance and sense of entitlement 6500 has had all along.
There is little wonder why Sudburians are disgusted and never have been supporting their side.
    Your payroll money?
FIRST you work. Then you get paid. (Work means actually doing the job and making profits so you employer can pay you....)

  • And life goes on without the Steelworkers.

  • to Normduster,

vale is using your payroll money ?
    who you think you are?
Do you think this company owes you anything ?
you are not even a shareholder!!!!

Vale is working on improving its public images and they have done so well now... only the stupid union that has no planning minds, so emotional and does not know how to set up a strategy...

this is the difference when an organization is managed by professional people like in Vale, and not in Union...the world has changed, people needs to be smarter and know the sense of reality...

  • its not your payroll money.
Its only yours if you are working: and you choose not to....

Therefore, you have no payroll money.

Thats the USW entitlement coming out: they think VALE owes them payroll even if they dont work.

no wonder VALE wants to use replacement workers...do you blame them?

  • Glad to hear that they are using our Payroll money wisely....

  • Vale continues to be a good corporate citizen.
It is little wonder why the community is solidly behind them.

  • Do 6500 member know no limit to their greed and selfishness?
You don't even want the community at large to benifit from the generousity of a local employer: all you think about is your next quad and 'beers and smokes'

  • wtf does this have to do with the strike Krato?

should Vale terminate all their other community donations during this strike because the USW are offended? No more for the United Way, Regreening efforts and Maison Vale INCO?

its business as usual for Vale nothing more than that.
