Greater Sudbury mayor John Rodriguez paid a visit to the he 15U and 16U Northern Chill volleyball teams at their practice Sunday to wish them well as they head off to the provincial and national championships.

The mayor — who is a former volleyball coach — show the community's support for the teams by presenting them with Greater Sudbury pins and a flag of the city, to hoist proudly at the approaching tournaments. He also offered encouragement and tips as both teams approach the high point of their seasons.

“Hard work, discipline, dedication,” Rodriguez said. “Those are what I believe to be the recipe of success.

“No matter how you place (at the tournament), I am so proud of all of you, and the community is, too,” the mayor added.

Both teams make their appearance at the provincial championships, being held in Waterloo from April 23–25. The 16U team will also represent its club and the city at the national championships, to be held in Sherbrooke, Que. in May.
