Tessa Bonhomme and Rebecca Johnston were welcomed home with a celebration at Tom Davies Square, March 10.

The two Greater Sudbury athletes are members of Canada's women's hockey team, which won gold at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics in February.

Cross-country skier Devon Kershaw and ski-cross racer Chris Del Bosco were also honoured, but were unable to attend. They were represented by family members.

They we were welcomed by a crowd of happy, cheering and waving Sudburians, numbering more than 1,000. The warm temperatures, sunny day, and energetic atmosphere resulted in the celebration lasting hours.

Kershaw, from the Greater Sudbury area, is currently preparing to compete in Norway. A competiton in Europe also prevented Del Bosco from attending. Del Bosco has family ties to the Sudbury area.
