SportLink, Greater Sudbury Sport Council has received financial backing to help promote Greater Sudbury as a host for regional and national sporting events.

The organization received $27,631 through Employment Ontario to hire a marketing assistant to develop a marketing project that will promote the city as a sporting destination. SportLink will also look to increase community and local corporate awareness of its programs and services.

“By investing in our people and our community, we’re building a brighter future for Greater Sudbury,” Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci said in a press release.

“This funding allows our Greater Sudbury Sport Council to explore increasing opportunities, and develop sport tourism as a prospering sector of our northern Ontario economy,” Randy Pascal, managing director, SportLink, said in the release.
