On Aug. 12, Miners for Cancer will hold their Annual Golf Challenge at the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club.

The group, which was started in 1996, organizes annual hockey and golf tournaments for those in the mining industry which allow workers to get together socially and raise funds for cancer research.

Miners for Cancer has now raised more than $500,000 for cancer research.

“We’re so proud of what we’ve accomplished over the past 14 years, and we’ve had a great time
doing it,” Wayne Tonelli, president, Miners for Cancer, said in a press release.

“We’ll keep raising money for cancer research as long as the disease keeps affecting our community.”
