The Naughton Trails were the site of the Sudbury Fitness Challenge Mountain Bike Tour Sunday morning and out-of-towners were front and centre.

Parry Island native Greg Edgar crossed the line first in the feature 20-kilometre race. Anthony Story, one of roughly a dozen or so competitors who made the trip down from New Liskeard, finished second in a time of 1:05.31, about four minutes behind the winner.

But local athletes held their own, too. Provincial caliber Nordic skiers Victor Hopper and Alannah MacLean also took home first place ribbons in their respective categories, while OFSAA track and field competitor Emily Marcolini did the same in the 16-kilometre event.

The Mountain Bike Tour marks the fifth event in the Sudbury Fitness Challenge, with the demanding Beaton Classic set to test the physical threshold of local athletes Sunday morning (Aug. 22) at Moonlight Beach.
