With teams in the Great North Midget League still a week or so away from finalizing their rosters for 2010-2011, the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves and North Bay Trappers shared in some preseason hockey action this weekend.

The teams split a weekend home and home series, with Saturday afternoon's game taking place in the Gateway City. James Dent scored the game-winner in overtime, lifting the visitors from Sudbury to a 5-4 win.

Tyrel Spooner, Dalton Ghent, Brandon Jones and Jimmy Roy rounded out the scoring for the Wolves, with Randy Amyot, Kieran Peltier, Martin Strasbourg and Danny Desrochers replying in a losing cause.

The tables were turned on Sunday as the Trappers exploded for four goals in the opening period, paving the way to a 5-2 win. Amyot led the North Bay attack with a pair of markers, with Patrick Robert, Kyle Baril and  Peltier chipping in with one goal apiece.

Mitch Mensour and Jacob Bonin answered for Wolves' coach Peter Michelutti Jr. and company, who confirmed after the game that they expect to be in a position to announce their initial core group of signings some time early this week.
