The Sudbury Wolves organization held its inaugural August Camp on Sunday at the Copper Cliff Arena, as 30 fresh new faces were in Sudbury vying for an invitation to the Wolves' or Jr. Wolves tryout camps.

Players travelled from all over Ontario, including Thunder Bay, Ottawa and Woodstock, as well as from Syracuse, N.Y., to attend the camp.

“The calibre of play was very good and we identified a number of players that we liked at the camp," Wolves head coach Trent Cull said.

Players attending the camp included seven goaltenders, eight defencemen and 15 forwards. There were also some local Wolves and Jr. Wolves prospects in attendance, including Adam DiBrina, Michael Rouleau and Peter Poulin-Roy.

The camp included fitness testing, practice and a two-hour scrimmage. Team Blue defeated Team White 6-4 in the scrimmage game. Robert Ward led the winners with two goals while Nikita Mandrik had a goal and two helpers. Chris Micallef, of Mississauga, led Team White with a hat trick, while Jesse Raymond of Woodstock was solid in net for Team Blue, a press release stated.

"The players received information on in-season conditioning and nutrition, and personal feedback from the coaching staff on their performance,” Cull said. “We identified a number of younger players who we will follow this coming season for future camp invitations as well.”

Wolves' management will formally announce all players who will be attending their Main Camp later in the week at a news conference.
