Lady Wolves secure pre-season win

It was the first installment of what is expected to be a season-long rivalry as the Sudbury and North Bay Midget AA girls hockey teams met in exhibition play Monday night at the Raymond Plourde Arena.

Jenny Delange scored on the power play with under three minutes remaining, lifting the Lady Wolves past the Ice Boltz 3-2.

Melissa McIver provided Sudbury with a 1-0 first period lead, scoring on a backhand before North Bay answered with a pair of second period markers courtesy of Molly McCann and Robyn Degagne.

Marcie Tellier drew the Wolves even in the third, deflecting a shot from the point before Manitoulin Island native Jenny Delange secured the win for the locals.

If both teams remain at the AA level, it will be the first time in quite a while (perhaps ever) that Sudbury and North Bay will be required to playoff for a berth in the OWHA Midget AA Provincials in 2011.
