Outdoor recreation in Greater Sudbury now open

With last weekend's snowfall, winter recreational areas in the city are starting to open up. Adanac Ski Hill and Queen's Athletic Skating Oval are open for the season as of Dec. 17.

With last weekend's snowfall, winter recreational areas in the city are starting to open up.

Adanac Ski Hill and Queen's Athletic Skating Oval are open for the season as of Dec. 17. The Lively and Capreol Ski Hills will remain closed a bit longer as they rely on a greater natural snow base.

Residents are reminded that ringette, shinny and hockey are not allowed on the skating ovals. Schools and community groups interested in booking the oval can contact the City of Greater Sudbury at 705-674-4455 ext.4578.

Hours of operation at the Adanac Ski Hill may vary due to fluctuating temperatures. For updates, please call the ski hill at 705-566-9911, the City of Greater Sudbury at 3-1-1 or visit www.greatersudbury.ca/ski

The hours for the ski hill and skating oval are as followed:

Adanac Ski Hill (between Dec. 18 and Jan. 2)

  • Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Mondays to Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • the ski hill will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Christmas and New Year's Eve.
  • the ski hill will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1

 

Queen's Athletic Skating Oval

  • Mondays to Fridays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 10 p.m.
  • the skating oval will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1
