Laurentian University runner Emma Tallman ran a personal best on her way to a bronze medal in the 600-metre race at the Hal Brown Memorial indoor track meet in Toronto on the weekend.
Tallman's time of 1:35.43 currently puts her in the top-12 in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) rankings.
Also competing were teammates Gracie Tetzlaff, who placed 20th in the 1,500-metre with a time of 5:09.97 and Katie Maziarski, who placed 21st with an eight-second personal-best time of 5:10.28.
Teams from Waterloo, Laurier, York, Nipissing, Guelph, Laurentian, McMaster and the University of Toronto participated in the meet.
"Our athletes ran very well, and Emma's race is a good tuneup for the OUA Championships next weekend," head coach Dick Moss said.
The Lady Vees' next competition is the OUA championships Feb. 26-27 at York University. Tallman will compete in the 600-metre and 1,000-metre and Stephanie Flieler will race in the 1,500-metre and 3,000-metre events.
