For a second straight year, the Tracy Horgan rink missed out on representing Ontario at the 2011 Scotties Tournament of Hearts later this month, despite going 7-0 against all teams except two.

Horgan, Jennifer Seabrook, Jenna Enge and Amanda Gates, from the Idylwylde Golf & Country Club, dropped a 7-5 decision to a northern Ontario rival, Fort William Curling Club's Krista McCarville, in the semi-final match on Jan. 30.

McCarville was subsequently defeated in the championship final, as Ottawa Curling Club's Rachel Homan capped off her week by bouncing McCarville 9-6.

With their win, the Homan rink will represent Ontario in Prince Edward Island later this month.

Despite posting a record of 7-2 in preliminary round play, Horgan and her teammates struggled in the page 1-2 match on on Jan. 29, finishing on the wrong end of a 12-4 score against Homan.

Horgan ended with a record of 7-0 against all teams other than Homan and McCarville, but was doomed by going winless in head-to-head battles with the two top-end teams.

This marks the fourth consecutive visit to the Provincial Scotties for Horgan and mates, after representing Northern Ontario on three occasions at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships.
