After an exciting and promising first half of the game, the strength and persistence of the Ottawa Gee-Gees proved to be too much for the Laurentian Voyageurs basketball team in the end, as they fell 83-77 to the Gee-Gees.

Ottawa completed the three-game sweep against the Voyageurs in a see-saw battle, as the Voyageur's short OUA playoff run came to an abrupt end in the first round.

Coming out of the first quarter down by 13, the Voyageurs settled down after a shaky start and came out of the first half up by a score of 42-39.

The tables began to turn at the start of the second half as Ottawa quickly battled back to regain the lead. Ottawa headed into the final quarter up by 12 points over Laurentian. At one point in the quarter, Laurentian brought the game back to within six, but that was as close as the Voyageurs would get to Ottawa at the end of the game.

Mike Hull led the Voyageurs in their final game of the season with 18 points, nine rebounds and three steals in his 27 minutes of play. Isiah Pasquale and Shavaan Sheldon each added 17 points to the total.

Following the game, Shawn Swords, head coach, said he was "quite pleased with the effort the guys gave and the energy we had for most of the game."
