Six local hockey players have earned the opportunity to compete for a place on the Team Ontario roster, which will take part in the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, to be held in Winnipeg later this year.
The players were selected at the NOHA U-17 Regional Camp, held April 16-17 in New Liskeard.
Sudbury Anmar Minor Midget Wolves' forwards Jacob Smith, Tyler Bertuzzi, Michael Laidley and Ryan Erickson will join blueliners Shane Snow and Brendan Pheasant, heading to Thunder Bay for the Ontario Regional Camp in mid-July.
As well, teammate Ryan Kujawinski, a native of Iroquois Falls who suited up with the Wolves this year and is expected to be selected in the first round of the OHL draft, will also join the local contingent this summer.
Rounding out the NOHA crew are goaltender Kenneth Appleby (North Bay Trappers), defensemen Michael Caruso and Tyler Sehovic with the Soo North Stars, and forwards Danny Desrochers (North Bay Trappers) and Matt Pinder (Soo North Stars).
