A “living legend” of karate helped students at Sudbury Multicultural Martial Arts (MMA) hone their craft over the weekend.
Senaha Shigetoshi Sensei came from Okinawa, Japan, to teach at the Barrydowne Road academy on July 5 and 6.
John Cole, an instructor at Sudbury MMA, said learning from someone with so much experience was a great opportunity for his students.
“He brings an unique cultural aspect to martial arts,” Cole said. “(Students had the) opportunity to experience not only martial arts, but a small piece of the culture. He brings traditional values and traditional exercises.”
With nearly six decades of experience, the 71-year-old ninth-degree black belt helped kids and adults alike learn new skills and hone their existing skills.
People came from as far away as Michigan to learn from the master.
